The Citizenship Key Project

Our Citizenship Key Project addresses systemic disadvantage by offering accessible, expert legal assistance to young people under 18, helping them obtain citizenship and overcome barriers to education that contribute to disengagement and social
inequity.

Australian citizenship unlocks vital opportunities for young people, including access to tertiary education and financial assistance, benefits not available to permanent residents or temporary visa holders.
This project fills a critical sector gap by delivering high-quality, outreach, specialist migration legal assistance,
and education directly, and with a youth focus.

Young people from culturally diverse communities in our catchment face significant socio-economic disadvantage and are disproportionately impacted by systemic barriers to education, employment, and legal support. These challenges contribute
to disengagement from education and increased vulnerability to justice system involvement.
This project provides a critical early intervention by supporting young migrants under 18 to access legal assistance and apply for Australian citizenship—unlocking pathways to tertiary education, financial support, and long-term stability.
