School Lawyer Project

For our School Lawyer Project, we have embedded specialist lawyers within two pilot schools to work with students and related stakeholders to collaboratively address youth disengagement.

This project not only provides legal services to students but also delivers community legal education to students and staff.
The two schools we will be collaborating with for the first stage of the project are Mt Ridley and Roxburgh Colleges, both located in Melbourne’s north-west.

The goals of this project are to:
-
Build capability of school staff to respond to youth legal need in pilot project schools
-
Ensure young people have their legal needs met
-
Build the legal capability of students to prevent or respond to their own future legal needs
-
Improve our own understanding of the impact of systemic issues on youth disengagement in the pilot project schools
